Life's a Bitch

(John McGie/Jon Lundquist)

LIFE'S A BITCH

A weary wind once called me
And seemed to ask me why
Do I do the things I do
Just to get on by
I said no I don’t believe so
If you know just what I mean
Good times are for living
Tomorrows are for dreams

If you think you know the answers
Then please don’t tell me why
Sometimes life ‘s a bitch
And then you die

I heard an owl once call me
He spoke out from a tree
He spoke of life’s amusements
And what my life might be
I said ‘Oh great owl above me
How wise you seem to be’
He said it’s all BS I’m speaking
Hey, what’d you want for free

Asinine indignation
Don’t pass for prophesy
It’s a bottle in the ocean
Heading out to sea
If you’re so secure in knowing
Why must I agree
Be happy in the knowledge
That I will just be me
